Understand the numbers
YouTube ad revenue is often discussed using RPM, or revenue per 1,000 views. This calculator lets you enter your own monthly views and estimated RPM to model possible monthly and annual revenue without assuming one universal payout rate.
Calculation method
Estimated revenue equals monthly views divided by 1,000, multiplied by the RPM you enter. The goal section reverses that calculation to estimate how many monthly views would be needed at the same RPM.
Example
Example: 1,000,000 monthly views at an assumed $4.00 RPM produces an estimated $4,000 in monthly revenue before taxes, expenses and other monetization sources.
Useful checks
- Use your own channel analytics when you have them.
- Run low, base and high RPM scenarios.
- Do not assume Shorts, long-form videos, niches or countries monetize at identical rates.
